NOxCare™ 40 Marine

Reducing NOx emissions from ships

Premium product quality NOxCare 40 Marine is guaranteed to exceed the international ISO 18611-1: 2014 standard to ensure compatibility with the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system and engine producers’ specifications.

Direct production lines secure homogene products that comply with Marine AUS40 product specifications and with ISO regulations to safeguard the best possible performance of your SCR system.

As the world’s largest producer of high quality urea solution, Yara NOxCare 40 Marine offers an efficient way to reduce up to 99 % of NOx emissions and converts it into harmless water and nitrogen.

NOx regulations in the maritime sector

The maritime sector is a considerable contributor to global emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx). Together with sulphur oxides (SOx), NOx is the main cause of acid rain and formation of smog (ground level ozone), that increase the risk of asthma, allergies and lung diseases.

Stricter regulations by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) apply globally. From 2016 all new ships sailing within an Emission Control Area (ECA) must reduce NOx emissions to meet the strict Tier III requirements.

NOxCare is a brand registered by Yara International ASA

How does SCR work?

The SCR system is installed between the engine and the exhaust outlet. The NOxCare 40 Marine is injected into the exhaust gas stream prior to the SCR System. The exhaust gas passes through the catalyst where the NOx is converted into harmless nitrogen and water.

What are the advantages?

  • Non-hazardous / Non-toxic
  • Non-flammable / Non-explosive
  • No special safety measures for storage, handling and use
  • Available and easily transportable throughout Europe
